Grandma Smith's Cake
1 lb. sugar
8 oz butter
4 eggs
1 lbs flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
Add sweet milk to right the mixture.
Cherries cut up as desired.
Bake 1 hour in moderate oven.
Edna's Oat Meal Cookies

1 cup butter or lard
1 cup sugar
5 tablespoons of butter milk
1 teaspoon soda
2 eggs
2 cups of oatmeal
2 cups of flour
1 cup of raisins
1 teaspoon vanilla
Drop in teaspoonfuls and bake.
Dumplings

2 cups flour
2 heaping teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
Sift altogether and add 1 cup sweet milk.
Drop by spoonfuls into kettle; boil moderately
for 15 minutes without covering,
then put on cover and boil 5 minutes longer.

2 boxes spices, boiled in water.
